The "telematic box" or TBOX Magneti Marelli combines the flexibility and interoperability of the consumer world with high quality, efficiency and technology in the automotive world.The telematic box is an electronic module that integrates a telephone to connect with the cellular communication networks and a module of tracking with various satellite constellations (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS). To allow the provision of services in line with market demand, the device also integrates a 3-axis accelerometer to detect the parameters of acceleration and braking of the vehicle, 2 digital inputs and 1 analog input, a serial port, a K-line interface.
The Telematic Box can be installed on any type of car, with direct supply from the vehicle.
A rechargeable internal battery allows the use of the device even in the absence of external power.
The product is configurable and allows connections with external devices such as speakers and microphone, multiple buttons, displays, Intelligent, Smart Card reader, EOBD modules.
The software architecture, flexible and modular, allows to develop and integrate in the product custom applications that enable multiple insurance markets such as fleet management, toll collection, emergency call.
The application software for the insurance market can be customized, depending on the needs of insurance or "service providers" who provide the same insurance services relating to data collection vehicles insured through central infrastructure. In particular, the application supplies the position data of the vehicle, and more the necessary data for the reconstruction of the crash, for the profiling of the insured and therefore for the customization of policies based on parameters such as mileage, vehicle use, driving style (eg "Pay As You Drive").
