Magneti Marelli Exhaust develops and produces exhaust systems for motor vehicles using high quality, high performance technologies. Its product range includes systems for exhaust gas after-treatment (catalytic converters, particulate filter converters, SCR and NSC systems) and for engine noise attenuation. It is present with plants, development centers and application centers in Italy, Spain, Poland, Serbia, Argentina, U.S., South Africa, China, India, Turkey.

Emission Abatement Systems
Pollutants are reduced by designing catalytic converters able to comply with the increasingly environmental stringent laws, and carrying out the necessary adaptations to incorporate them into the exhaust system.
In Europe, emissions are currently regulated by the Euro 5 specifications, introduced in 2009, while in 2014 the more stringent Euro 6 specifications will come into force. The products which comply with these regulations are some of the most innovative on the market; among them, after-treatment devices for diesel NOx abatement like SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction converter) and NSC (NOx Storage Converter) should be mentioned.
Silencing System
As far as noise attenuation is concerned, Magneti Marelli produces a wide range of silencers manufactured using different technologies which vary according to customers’ requirements. The main purpose of the silencing system is to reduce the noise generated by the pressure waves of the exhaust gases. The development methodologies in Magneti Marelli allow the system design optimization in order to respect the law regulation and the customer request in terms of comfort and of sound customization.
Competences
The product development is performed by CAD-CAE tools for the virtual validation and by advanced methodologies and test equipment for the experimental evaluation.
