The Diesel-Particulate Filter (DPF) is a device which reduces the polluting emissions caused by the thin dust of diesel engines. The DPF system carries out a mechanical filtration by filters made in ceramic or metallic materials with varying porosity.
A peculiar feature of a system with a DPF filter is the need to regenerate the filter through the combustion as soon as the saturation of accumulated particulate is reached inside the filter itself. Magneti Marelli produces DPF converters in the close-coupled configuration, in order to have a compact system, and in under-floor position.
