smart Mechatronic Integrated Unit (sMIU)
Mechatronic system designed to support the “traditional” architecture, it integrates the following components in the same unit:
The s-MIU can withstand operating temperatures from –40°C to +60°C in full load operating conditions and up to +85°C at minimum operation, and requires installation on the engine by means of rubber sleeves in order to reduce vibration levels.
The connections to external input/output are made through a single 32-way connector.
The pilot control unit 1 injection channel and 1 ignition channel.
Mixing is controlled by means of a 1 lambda probe of the heated ON/OFF type.
The sMIU was specifically designed for “entry-level” vehicles fitted with single-cylinder air-cooled engines that are converted from carburettor supply to injection system. In fact, the especially reduced external dimensions, the mechanical interfaces and the high integration of the components allow the carburettor to be replaced with minimum work on the engine/vehicle.
This “plug and play” substitution is made easier in case the new gasoline pump with integrated pressure regulator (PRP), developed and patented by Magneti Marelli, is used.
The pump can be easily installed at the bottom of the gasoline tank or in line instead of the regular carburettor components.
The reduced overall dimensions allow the original capacity of the fuel tank to be maintained, without penalizing vehicle autonomy.
