Halogen

Halogen bulbs have been deployed in headlamps since the mid sixties.

In comparison to their predecessor types, Halogen bulbs provide more light and last longer.

They can be used for all light functions in the vehicle front, e.g. low beam, high beam, turn indicator, position light or fog lamps.

How they work

Headlamp components, such as low beam distribute light according to a pattern with a light/dark boundary.

Below this boundary the widest possible field of vision is realized for the driver, while at the same time, the drivers approaching in the opposite direction are protected from excessive light.

Depending on the particular headlamp design, either reflection systems (lamp and reflector) or projection systems (lamp, reflector and projection lens) are used for low and high beam functions.
