The natural compressed gas (CNG) has several potentialities and advantages compared to gasoline; it is a great alternative, because of the low polluting emissions, especially CO2 (25% less), especially in high density traffic areas, where often restraining circulation policies are executed.
In addition, methane does not draw on limited petrol sources and it can be produced also as renewable fuel from organic substances.
CNG system
With regard to the CNG system, Magneti Marelli Powertrain supplies bi-fuel/OEM systems (with EOBD), compliant with the European CO2 emissions requirements.
Since it is an integrated system, the control strategy of fuel changing variation is optimized, to such an extent that the driver has the same driving comfort notwithstanding the switching from a fuel type to the other.
CNG components
Magneti Marelli has a long experience in the production of CNG systems. Specifically we also supply its main components: bifuel electronic control unit, injectors, fuel rails and high pressure regulator.
Bifuel electronic control unit is in constant evolution, aiming to make the integrated gasoline/CNG system management more robust and to high performance standards. CNG fuel rails are produced with high quality plastic material, with advantages both from the costs and the weight point of view and it is possible to mount them on any kind of CNG vehicle.
CNG Magneti Marelli injectors are in constant development as well. Their main strengths are a higher feasibility and precision, smaller space filling and, more important, less intern components, with the significant advantage of a noticeable costs reduction.
