The Automotive PND represents a new frontier in the portable navigation device market; it is a safe and easy to use system thanks to the high degree of onboard integration, from both an electrical/mechanical and connectivity standpoint.

 

It was developed by making the most of years of experience acquired in the automotive field by Magneti Marelli, a key player in the supply of original equipment navigation systems.

 

The adoption of this new architecture results in considerable advantages: data coming from the vehicle CAN network is used by the PND to improve navigation, voice messages are reproduced by the onboard audio system, the navigation pictograms are shown on the instrument panel and the destination can be entered by means of the steering wheel pushbuttons or voice commands.

 

All this contributes to guaranteeing higher standard in terms of both comfort and safety.

 

In addition to satellite navigation, the Automotive PND offers multimedia functions such as the reproduction of songs and the display of both films and images.

 

The Fiat 500 represents the first application of this product.
