Magneti Marelli celebrates its 90th birthday 08/10/2009 The deed of incorporation of Fabbrica Italiana Magneti Marelli was signed on October 8th 1919 in the offices of the Notary Public Federico Guasti, located in Via Clerici 2, Milan.
Ninety years have passed since then, during which time the Company, whose mission as stated in the deed of incorporation, was “the construction and sale of magnets and electrical equipment, specifically for application in the automotive, aviation and navigation sectors”, did not limit itself to making magnets. Throughout its long history, the Company has also built professional radio bridges, developed television broadcasting systems in collaboration with RAI (Italy's public television network), built video surveillance circuits for racing tracks, airports, subway systems, contributed to the building of the first particle accelerator by the Geneva-based CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research), powered Italy's large submarines, and it has manufactured commercial radios and television sets, accessories and advanced ignition systems for both automobiles and motorcycles.
Today, Magneti Marelli produces high technology by taking advantage of the experience gained through its many successes in the fields of sports racing, automotive components and research on sustainability and ecology: the tradition of innovation has not run out, since 1919 until today. Happy 90th birthday, Magneti Marelli!
