Throttle Bodies
Magneti Marelli Powertrain produces throttle bodies for Diesel applications, both pneumatically and electronically controlled.
The throttle body has been only recently applied to Diesel engines to perform some specific tasks, as:

Engine shut off without vibrations;

Exhausted gas temperature control during particulate filter regeneration;

Engine noise reduction;

Exhaust Gas Recirculation increase for NOx emission reduction.
Pneumatic throttle bodies
The main characteristics are an aluminium or plastic actuator, with throttle position feed back for new generation throttle bodies.
Electrical throttle bodies
Two types of electrical throttle bodies are available depending on the Customer needs:

Throttle body with DC-motor actuator with contact-less position sensor, without embedded electronics;
-
Throttle body with DC-motor actuator with embedded electronics for the position control and diagnostic.
