Magneti Marelli Suspension Systems designs and produces suspension modules and components for motor vehicles.
The business line is based in Turin and it is also present in Poland, Brazil and the U.S.A. as well as in Italy.
In October of 2007 it was split into three business lines: Suspensions, Shock absorbers and SDC (electronically controlled shock absorbers).
Suspension Systems
Within the Suspension Systems business line, the available products range from individual components (control arms, cross-members, axles, knuckles, brake discs and drums) to assembled modules (wheel groups, semi-corners).
A structured design and testing department is capable of satisfying any type of technical request coming from the customers, with the possibility to develop parts according to specifications or as an improvement to an existing drawing.
A thorough knowledge of main technological processes in the Automotive sector and careful management of suppliers and partners allows the business line to manufacture suspensions in a wide range of materials, fully controlling their quality and performance characteristics.
Innovative products include new suspension models such as F.L.E.C.S (Flexible Link, Elevated Compliance Suspension) and T.O.R.C.S (Torsion Rod Compliant Suspension).
Simple calibration and optimal kinetic performances make these systems a real alternative to common solutions adopted by carmakers.
Cofap – Shock Absorbers
The Cofap business line designs and produces shock absorbers for a wide range of automotive applications.
The innovation, design, development and testing skills, spread out in three technical centres, are capable of satisfying the customers’ most demanding technical specifications.
Customers are provided with high-level prototype and testing services during test-rides on any track or testing route through the use of many well-equipped mobile units.
The high production verticalisation ensures a mastery of all technological processes employed in the construction of shock absorber components.
Consequently, the in-depth knowledge of materials and processes guarantees a high level of quality.
One of the most important innovative products, for example, is the Power Shock, which features greater control of the roll while maximising comfort.
SDC - Synaptic Damping Control
The recently established SDC business line focuses on developing mechatronics products for car frames.
In particular, the business line develops shock absorbers with constant dampening control, electronic control units, sensor modules, SW and control strategies aimed at improving the comfort and dynamic performance of the vehicle.
In addition to developing individual components, the SDC line also specialises in integrating the entire control system at the vehicle level.
