Magneti Marelli Suspension Systems is working in new technologies, for engines that require high performance and durability with low emissions.
About new liners development:

For heavy duty diesel application, the Company is working to improve the bainitic material that is indicated for high wearing resistance liners, applied in EGR engines or similar.

For light aluminum block engines, it has been developed the “waffle” out side surface, to improve the bonding condition between the Aluminum Cyl Block and the liner itself.
This would give a better stability of the cylinder block during piston / rings movement as well as during the Aluminum contraction at its cooling cycle (after being poured).
This also improves the heat exchange between the block and liner.
About camshafts:

To increase the resistance in the came area, the Company developed chilled camshafts, according to the new engines trend.
