The suspension is the set of mechanical components that control the wheel movements while the vehicle is travelling.

The set of arms, spring and dampening components, connecting frames and wheel groups is called an axle. It can be either a front axle or rear axle, depending on its position.

Due to the very nature of the vehicle mission, suspensions are subjected to movements and stress of an extremely variable entity during the course of their life.

Suffice it to think about the different road surfaces and conditions that vehicles are subjected to during their daily use.

This originates the need to offer products capable of combining comfort and handling with an extremely high level of safety. All within the context of vehicle architectural dimensions that are often quite limited (packaging).

To this purpose, over the years various families of suspensions have been developed that specialise in achieving the best compromising conditions between the various needs, from the simpler rigid axles to the more sophisticated Multilink suspensions.

In addition to the wheel vertical steering function, another distinguishing element may be the presence of the steering function, generally found on front axles.
