Chinese supplier for batteries of Renault-Nissan electric vehicles
The electric batteries that Renault and Nissan will distribute in China will be supplied by the local company Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), which has already signed similar agreements with BMW and Volkswagen.
In particular, CATL will supply its batteries to the Nissan Sylphy, a vehicle based on the Leaf EV, which will go into production in China by the end of the year promising a range of 330 km on a single charge.
Starting from 2019 the Chinese assembly of the electric Renault Kangoo will start and also in this case the batteries will be branded CATL.
Renault-Nissan operates a joint venture with its partner Dongfeng (the eGT New Energy Automotive Company) for the development of zero emission vehicles for China.
