Daimler celebrates 20 years of smart, now the debut of the electric versions
The Daimler Group celebrates the 20th anniversary of the smart brand, which has conquered over 2.2 million customers worldwide over the past two decades.
The first smart left the assembly lines of the French plant in Hambach on exactly 2 July 1998.
The super compact two-seater, just over 2 meters long, has revolutionized mobility, becoming a symbol especially for younger people and for some of the busiest cities, such as Milan and Rome.
The current smart is now distributed in 46 international markets and the exclusivity of the sale of only electric models has been launched, starting with the EQ fortwo concept unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The expected launch by 2020.
