Kia unveils new Sportage with diesel mild hybrid powertrain
Kia updates the SUV Sportage with a mid-career facelift bringing the diesel-powered powertrain for the first time for the model.
It is the 2.0 diesel mild hybrid EcoDynamic+ powertrain that uses a 48 Volt system to support the diesel engine with the generator that recharges the battery recovering the energy during braking.
The micro hybrid propeller is able to reduce CO2 emissions by 4% in the Wltp cycle compared to 2.0 traditional diesels.
The Korean company is engaged in an authentic electrified offensive that will lead it to have in its range, by 2025, 16 new battery models, one of which is powered by hydrogen.
The engine offer of the renewed Sportage also provides a 1.6 CRDi (instead of the previous 1.7) declined in the powers of 115 and 136 hp with the latter version also available with four-wheel drive and automatic transmission with double clutch.
Sportage plays a very important role for Kia, especially in Europe where it accounts for about 25% of total sales.
