  • Rossi tops second Barcelona practice
    Jun 14 2013 - 3:05pm
Valentino Rossi topped the second MotoGP practice session at Barcelona, edging out Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo. Lorenzo, who led the way in the first session in the morning, set the pace for the majority of the afternoon. The Spaniard was able to move to the top of the pile every time he crossed the line on his first run, as he and several others vied for position in the early minutes. As the session settled down Lorenzo seemed comfortable out front, but he was pushed back to second by Rossi when the Italian switched to a soft rear tyre for his final run.

  • Hulkenberg patient over winning car
    Jun 14 2013 - 2:20pm
Nico Hulkenberg says he has to be patient while he waits for a winning Formula 1 car, after a frustrating first part of the season with Sauber. The German driver switched from Force India to the Swiss squad for this year, after the Hinwil-based team enjoyed one of its strongest seasons in 2012. This year, however, Sauber has been unable to match the performance level of last year, and Hulkenberg has scored just five points in seven races.

  • McLaren: test costs can be controlled
    Jun 14 2013 - 11:10am
Formula 1 is not risking a dramatic hike in costs as the result of the return of in-season testing next year, reckons McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh. As AUTOSPORT reported at the weekend, F1's teams have approved plans for there to be four post-race test sessions in 2014. The matter now needs to be approved by the FIA at its next meeting of the World Motor Sport Council that takes place in Britain last this month.

  • Lorenzo edges Pedrosa in first practice
    Jun 14 2013 - 10:48am
Jorge Lorenzo edged out Dani Pedrosa and Cal Crutchlow in an extremely close first practice session for MotoGP's Catalunya Grand Prix at Barcelona. Pedrosa looked like he would be the man to beat as he very quickly got to within a few tenths of lap record pace on his Honda, setting an early 1m42.6s benchmark. But Lorenzo was able to respond, producing a 1m42.422s for Yamaha to claim the top spot. Although Pedrosa improved, he had to settle for second, just 0.023 seconds adrift.
