Mitsubishi to support renewable energy and EV study in Indonesia
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation participates in a joint study of renewable energy in the Sumba Island, Republic of Indonesia.
The study is aiming at utilizing the energy by photovoltaic power generation, which is effective in remote islands where it is difficult to supply gasoline.
To supply stable electric power generated by renewable energy, the study was originally started in December 2017 by the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology of Indonesia (BPPT) and Kyudenko, as a support project of Ministry of the Environment of Japan.
In February 2018, MMC presented eight units of Outlander PHEV plug-in hybrid SUV, two units of i-MiEV pure electric vehicle, and four units of battery charger to the Indonesian Government.
Of these, one unit of i-MiEV and battery charger are used in the joint study in Sumba Island, which is conducted for four months, starting from August 1st to November 30th, 2019.
